Polite Paws offers two options in service dog training. We can help you train your own dog or provide you with a dog we’ve trained to meet your specific needs. Our fees range from $2,500- $5,000.  Yearly, we train and place a service dog free-of-charge as a community service. Lexie, a yellow lab, is one of those dogs.

As a puppy, an overly exuberant Lexie was surrendered to Polite Paws in love December 2005 by a single-parent family. Her service dog training began immediately, starting with basic obedience. Within six weeks, she donned her service-dog-in-training vest to practice and refine her new skills in public.  In recent months, she’s learned to retrieve anything on command; unload a dryer; and open cabinets and drawers. She loves to work, play and cuddle! Her favorite “teachers” are Elena, Noah & Andrew (both autistic) and Molly… four special and talented children involved in the final phaseof her assistance training.

Placement applications are now being accepted for Lexie.  We expect to place her in December, 2006.
