Hilton Head Island offers 12 miles of the most beautiful, dog-friendly public beaches on the South Carolina coast. Dogs can be on the beach anytime except during tourist season, May thru September. During tourist season, dogs are prohibited on the beach from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
If your dog is under voice control, a leash is not required on the beach. However, the town of Hilton Head requires that dogs be on a leash at all other times, so you’ll need one to get your dog from public parking areas to the beach. Our local and county laws also require you to pick up after your dog.
